Job Summary:
The Supervisor, Community Programs is responsible for the effective operation and delivery of the Community Programs department. This position involves supervising staff, and direct service and program responsibilities, with a focus on supporting the efficient and effective functioning of the department.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and evaluate client referrals to the department, providing referrals to other SPRINT Senior Care services or community services, as appropriate.
- Work with the Manager, Community Programs, to plan, develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate community programs, and work with other departments to implement activities (as needed).
- Place all food orders for the department’s programs, ensuring that food ordering remains within budgetary and dietary guidelines.
- Assist in the development, recommendation and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the department.
- With the support of SPRINT Senior Care’s Communication and Development Lead, update monthly program calendars used to advertise and inform clients of all SPRINT Senior Care and other community partner programs.
- Support the Manager, Community Programs in the development, promotion and distribution of marketing materials and flyers for community programs.
- Create and post communications through Constant Contact and social media platforms, and on SPRINT Senior Care’s website.
- Maintain client records and compile monthly statistics and reports according to agency and program requirements.
- Manage inventory and order supplies, equipment and materials as required.
- Collaborate with Volunteer Services for volunteer recruitment and screening, and support performance monitoring.
- Oversee and complete administrative tasks including data entry, filing, maintaining computer records and responding to program inquiries.
- Provide quality customer service when interacting with clients, volunteers, caregivers and the public.
- Assist in implementation of program evaluation, and quality and risk management activities of the program and agency.
- Responsible for the supervision of all students and volunteers in Community Programs.
- Develop new volunteer roles as needed.
- Direct oversight of staff and volunteers in Community Programs
- Administer and maintain all department systems including: a. preparation and maintenance of all client records b. billing and receipt of monthly fees; collaborate with Finance Department to follow-up on non-payment
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in gerontology, social work, social service worker, public health, healthcare administration, community development, nutrition, recreation therapy, business administration or related field preferred.
- Experience working or volunteering in a community-based organization.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with attention to detail.
- Strong project management and demonstrated analytical skills.
- Knowledge of and experience with developing activities for individuals and groups.
- Experience with seniors, including for those with cognitive impairments and challenges with mobility is an asset.
- Experience with program planning and implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with volunteers, staff and other stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills.
- Demonstrated skills in using Microsoft Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience using social media.
- Flexible, resourceful and creative for the planning of the community outreach strategy.
- Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate, an asset.
