Community and Social Services Worker (Recreation Assistant) – (Canada Summer Jobs)
About SPRINT Senior Care:
We began caring for seniors and enabling seniors to care for themselves in 1983. We continue to do so today as an accredited, not-for-profit community support service agency in Toronto by offering a wide range of practical and low-cost services to seniors and their caregivers. Our services help seniors stay safe, connected, and live as independently as possible, and prevent premature or inappropriate institutionalization.
Position Type:
Bargaining Unit Position; Full-Time, Contract (Contract Length: 8 Weeks) 35 hours per week

Supervisor, Community Programs

In person
Various SPRINT Senior Care locations
What you will do:
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Assist in the planning, implementation, and delivery of department activities.
- Assist with social programs, exercise programs, food security programs and special events.
- Socialize with clients.
- Helping with setting up, serving and cleaning up for meal and wellness programs.
- Develop and implement health promotion education sessions and workshops as well as run in-person programming in an engaging fashion
- Program support including: packing and meal delivery to clients.
- Assist with administrative tasks and projects.
- Assist in the development and distribution of marketing materials.
- Attend and participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you will bring:
- Enrolled in or completed a post-secondary Social Service Worker, Healthcare, Activation, Social Work, Recreation, Gerontology, Kinesiology Program, or a related field.
- Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.
- Basic knowledge of food handling and food safety
- Experience working with seniors and persons with dementia is an asset.

- Be between 15-30 years of age, at the start of the funded position.
- Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred.
- Have a valid SIN
- International students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.
Pay:
CA$18.60 per hour
