Program Description:
Reporting to the Director of Community Services and working closely with the Transportation Department Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing fleet operations, transportation logistics, staff/volunteer supervision, vendor and partner relationships, insurance and regulatory compliance, and special transportation initiatives. This role plays a key leadership function in ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable transportation services that help seniors access essential appointments, programs, and community resources.
What you will do:
- Manage all aspects of maintaining SPRINT Senior Care’s fleet including vendor relations, ensuring the necessary maintenance is scheduled and completed, all invoices are submitted for payment and the repairs and costs associated with each vehicle are tracked accurately
- Oversee all agency vehicle insurance, registration, semi-annual Department of Transportation inspections and Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) renewals
- Oversee the recommendations for the purchase and sale of all agency vehicles
- Manage purchase and distribution of all vehicle equipment and car wash coupons
- Ensure that Vehicle Information binders are kept up to date and that all required items designated for each vehicle are properly stored and maintained
- Manage all aspects of the Toronto Rotary Club Foundation program that funds vehicle purchase for Toronto Ride partner agencies
- Manage parking arrangements for the SPRINT Senior Care fleet
- Supervise Transportation Department drivers arranging for training, dealing with parking and traffic tickets, Reportable Events, and reporting motor vehicle accidents to the insurance company and completing all necessary follow-up
- Provide support to the drivers on the use of software associated with their phones
- Serve as a backup to the Transportation Department Manager for scheduling and running regular TR Team meetings and Drivers’ meetings and completing other assigned tasks as needed.
- Work with the Transportation Department Manager in hiring, supervising, training and conducting staff performance appraisals.
- Manage all functions related to the client dialysis program, including updating client lists, verifying monthly invoices and liaising with hospitals, as needed
- Manage the relationship with taxi services including verifying all monthly taxi invoices
- Participate positively with Toronto Ride partners and work initiatives providing support to the Toronto Ride partner agencies regarding scheduling and software issues, the distribution and operation of phones and coordinating collaborative trainings.
- Provide backup support to SPRINT Senior Care Transportation staff, assisting with entering and scheduling ride requests as needed
- Lead, participate in and assist with projects and initiatives across other SPRINT Senior Care programs and departments as required.
- Assist in developing and establishing new transportation opportunities.
What you will need:
- An undergraduate degree or college diploma in a relevant discipline.
- Valid Driver’s License
- 2-3 years’ experience working with seniors.
- Proven transportation logistics skills.
- Good problem-solving ability.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Previous supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment
- Demonstrates computer skills at an advanced level for the use of the Internet and the following Microsoft Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel and Outlook.
- Demonstrates an advanced level for database concepts and structures. Exposure to client information management systems and transportation related software is an asset.
- Excellent map reading skills and knowledge of Toronto city streets.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and to work under pressure.
