Personal Support Worker (Homemaking)

We continue to do so today as an accredited, not-for-profit community support service agency in Toronto by offering a wide range of practical and low-cost services to seniors and their caregivers. Our services help seniors stay safe, connected, and live as independently as possible. They also prevent premature or inappropriate institutionalization.
Position Type:
Bargaining Unit Position , Contract Position– 8 Months
Monday to Friday, 10am to 2:30pm
Work Location:
Various locations including client residences throughout the community and SPRINT Senior Care sites.
Job Summary:
Light household management and shopping. Encourage clients to live independently as long as possible; report and document any changes in client’s health status and undertake necessary steps to ensure clients safety and well-being.
This position focuses on homemaking responsibilities and tasks.
What you will do:
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Housekeeping including laundry, cleaning bathroom and kitchen, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, etc.
- Shopping
- Complete the Home Safety Checklist and Service Plan
- Maintain accurate and timely reporting and documentation.
- As needed, the PSW may be responsible for assistance with activities of daily living, including but not limited to dressing, personal hygiene/grooming, mobility, toileting, medication assistance and meal preparation.
- Perform tasks and duties as assigned by the Supervisor and Manager.
What you will bring:
- Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate/Diploma, or equivalent, and meets provincial requirements.
- Must be able to meet physical demands of the role, including ability to assist clients with lifts/transfers, standing, walking, sitting and repositioning.
- Must maintain a positive attitude, and the ability to prioritize client needs.
- Experience working with clients with cognitive impairment and/or dementia, and experience working with and appropriately responding to clients who exhibit high intensity responsive behaviours.
- Demonstrated ability to interact positively with residents, families and coworkers.
- Effective interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
- First Aid/CPR is an asset.
Wage:
CA$25.81 per hour
